This is an ongoing weekly meetup with the Central Park Skate Patrol. Great way to get in some evening skating. Read on:

THURSDAY EVENING SKATE
Hosted by The Central Park Skate Patrol, Inc.

TES is organized, run and marshalled by certified skate patrollers/instructors of the Patrol. It is a social, casual, "RELATIVELY" EASY SKATE OF THE TRAFFIC-FREE CENTRAL PARK ROAD LOOP, 6.1 miles or 5.2 miles option. It is not a "starting beginner" skate. Skaters must know how to skate. There is the option of the 5.2 miles, 104th Street "flat" cut-off road for those skaters not wanting to do, or uncomfortable with the big, Great Hill/Heartbreak Hill downhills and uphill on the North/Uptown end of the Park. The entire loop with four rest/water stops along route should take about an hour in the beginning. Central Park Skate Patrollers will lead, sweep, and marshal the skate to keep it organized, safe and fun! Patrollers will give tips to help skaters improve their individual and group skating skills within limitations of the group skate. But, it is not a "skating lesson" session.

HELMETS AND WRISTGUARDS REQUIRED. Recommended, all other protective gear including, but not limited to elbow and knee pads, blinking lights and light colored and/or reflective clothing for night visibility.

Who

All skaters welcome! This is not a "starting beginner" skate. SKATERS MUST BE ABLE TO STOP, TURN, KEEP UP WITH THE MODERATELY PACED GROUP, and know or want to learn how to skate with a group.

When

Thursday Evening Skate - TES MEETS WEEKLY AT 7 PM, STARTS ROLLING AT 7:15 PM. The skate is CANCELLED IF IT IS RAINING OR THE ROADS ARE WET.

Where

COLUMBUS CIRCLE ENTRANCE TO CENTRAL PARK, between 59th and 60th Streets, at the Statue the Maine.

Afterwards

DINNER AND DRINKS in local restaurant/bar, AMSTERDAM ALE HOUSE, 340 Amsterdam Avenue, 76th Street, 212 721 2161. Those going to restaurant pay for their own food, drinks, tax, and tip.

"Let the Good Times Roll with Thursday Evening Skate"

I won't be attending this event, but wanted to be sure to pass on the info. You guys can post comments on the event page to hook up with each other at the event if you like. Thanks, Rob, for the info!

Ok, let's party! A skate party and pic-a-nic on what will hopefully be a nice, sunny day.
We will set up camp on the hill right next to the skate dancer's circle. It's right down the hill from the Naumburg Band Shell.
I will provide a picnic blanket, some napkins, paper plates and some light refreshments.
This is a meetup for all skill levels: newbies can come and practice on the smooth paved stretch next to the dancers, those who want to boogie can join in with the skate dancers, and advanced bladers can rock the loops and park pathways if they so choose. We're just going to meet, eat, skate and chill. I will not be providing beverages, so bring your own, or some for the group if you like. Also, anyone wanting to bring snacks for the group, feel free.

The fee for this Meetup is $3.00

Come ready to socialize and have some fun!

By the way, "BYOB" means "bring your own blades". Do NOT show up with alcohol! ;)

Cost: $3.00

It is short notice but the weather is great so tonight I am doing loops in the Park as an alternative to the Big Apple Roll Advanced Skate.
EASY SKATE OF THE TRAFFIC-FREE CENTRAL PARK ROAD LOOP, 6.1 miles or 5.2 miles option.
I am thinking 1 to 1.5 or 2 loops and then (optional) Head over to Gossip 733 Ninth Avenue (between 49th and 50th Street) where the BAR Skate will be ending and join the group for Dinner and Drings at The BAR Friday night Venue. Dinner and Drink will be at your own expense. Skates not allowed so you will need footwear, Skate attire is OK.

Meet up if interested at Corner by 59th Street and Central Park West
at the steps at the Statue the Maine.

The weather should be nice.
